UIC is proud to be a member of Campus Compact, a national coalition of over 1,000 colleges and universities committed to the public purposes of higher education. As part of rejoining the network in 2016, Chancellor Amiridis signed on to the “Thirtieth Anniversary Action Statement of Presidents and Chancellors,” (PDF) which challenged member campuses to create a Civic Action Plan that brings a renewed commitment to civic learning and democratic engagement on our campus. Chancellor Amiridis charged the Institute for Policy and Civic Engagement (IPCE) with the task of the leading the campus effort to create the plan.

We seek input from members of the campus community in order to create an impactful plan. The plan will address three capacity areas with regard to civic engagement – (i) curricular activities (course related); (ii) co-curricular activities (non-course related), and (iii) administrative capacity to support civic engagement on campus. IPCE is seeking input on the plan through two mechanisms, campus dialogues, and an online survey.
